In 1912 our company began as a designer and producer of personal note cards to accompany floral gifts. Over the years we’ve blossomed into the country’s largest supplier of printing and merchandising products to florists. Today, florists, nurseries (growers), and mass merchandisers select from a wide array of custom and inventoried stock products via our 168 page catalog.
In 1990 we launched John Henry Packaging Group (JHPG) and have since unfolded success upon success. Our primary focus is on pharmaceutical and healthcare market packaging but we also have considerable experience in other markets such as food and beverage. John Henry Packaging Group has become a trusted partner for small niche-market companies and Fortune 200 organizations with global packaging requirements.
On January 1, 2005 we opened a new chapter that will help propel us into the future. Bear Stearns Merchant Banking acquired John Henry Company, positioning us to more quickly and fully develop and acquire additional expertise, processes, and technology. We are confident the team of Bear Stearns Merchant Banking and John Henry Company will translate into greater value for our clients, whether down the street or spanning the globe.
Our People
Our experienced and highly skilled workforce is the fundamental strength of the organization. We believe our employees have the pride and personal obligation to do his or her best work. One testimonial to the company’s culture and opportunities is the high number of friends, relatives, and spouses who work here side by side each day.
Our Technology
For the last five years our capital investments have significantly outpaced industry averages. Recent investments include a state-of-the-art fleet of label and folding carton presses, a transition to a computer-to-plate (CTP) workflow, and the addition of a digital print center pronounced by industry experts as “the industry’s best”. Moreover, since 2000 we have added six different digital printing technologies to better serve our clients' need for smaller, more responsive, and more frequent orders. We are now positioned where both leading technology suppliers and forward-thinking customers ask us to help them implement new packaging production technologies.
Financial Strength
You can be assured that we are financially stable and employ an asset structure to remain solid in the future. As of January 1, 2005 we further secured our long-term financial status as Bear Sterns Merchant Banking became our new owner. This new partnership will ensure we continue in our tradition as an industry leading financial performer.
In fact, from 1999 – 2003 we won the National Association of Printers and Lithographers' (NAPL) Gold award for financial performance in our category. After monopolizing the award for five straight years we were retired to the NAPL Hall of Fame.
Facilities Management
Whether your company currently has an onsite package printing facility, or you are considering the merits of such a facility, we can help. Our clients contract us to either conduct a “needs assessment” of their packaging production facilities, or help analyze whether an onsite facility is a strategically sound approach for them.
The cases where we have taken full control of client onsite packaging production facilities continue in place today. Not coincidentally, we have reduced turnaround times from weeks to hours, reduced inventory and scrap by millions of dollars, and reduced total packaging costs dramatically.
Beyond this success, our clients find their greatest payback is their renewed focus on their core competencies.
