Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)

Products with the 100% FSC label come exclusively from forests certified as being in compliance with the environment and social standards of the Forest StewardshipCouncil.

Recyclable Symbol

The familiar symbol with three chasing arrows designates products made from materials that are suitable for recycling. It does not mean the product contains recycled materials.

Recycled Symbol

This symbol is a variation on the three chasing arrows that indicates a product is made from recycled materials, which could be either pre- or post-consumer waste.

Rainforest Alliance (RAC)

The Rainforest Alliance works to conserve biodiversity and ensure sustainable livelihoods by transforming land-use practices, business practices and consumer behavior. Central to their efforts is independent third-party certifications which assures forest management practices conserve biodiversity and support local communities. Their SmartWood team has certified 104 million acres in 61 countries using FSC standards for sustainability.

Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI)

SFI is dedicated to sustainable management of North American Forests. Its program integrates harvesting and replanting of trees with protection of wildlife, plants, soil, water, and air quality.

Programme of the Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes (PEFC)

The PEFC is an umbrella organization that evaluates national forest certification systems to assess their effectiveness at promoting sustainability based on international standards. Using independent consultants, they have endorsed forest certification systems in 23 countires convering over 490 million acres.
